Devin J - InstructorDevin J

Field Mentor

Devin is originally from Northern Virginia. She attended college in the valley of the Blue Ridge Mountains at James Madison University. At JMU, she earned a degree in Biology with a minor in Africana Studies. With the original pursuit of attending medical school immediately preceding college, Devin fell in love with her job as an Adventure Specialist with the Adventure Program at JMU. Through this job and her love for rock climbing, she soon realized the positive correlation between the wilderness and mental health.

With her desire to delve deeper into the power of the wild, Devin made her way to Utah in September of 2016 to further herself in the Wilderness Therapy field. As a Field Mentor, she is enjoying the challenges that come along with this line of work and finds much self-growth with each passing day. Someday Devin hopes to return to the idea of attending medical school but for now, she is excited to see how the wilderness will work in the lives of the students and her own, too.

When Devin is not in the field, she enjoys rock climbing, running, hiking/backpacking, road-trips and traveling, taking photographs, and spending time with her rabbit, Bruce Wayne.
