Joe was born in New Jersey and spent may summers camping and dirt biking in upstate New York. While going through school, he started spending more time outdoors, going on hikes with friends and family and taking up cycling.
Joe attended Elon University and earned a degree in Secondary Science Education with a concentration in Physics. Rather than teaching in a traditional classroom, he spent the next two years teaching science informally. At the Eno River State Park in Durham, NC, Joe was the park naturalist, leading educational programs about ecology and biology to the guests of the park. Joe then went on to work as an instructor for the Sound to Sea Environmental Education Program where he taught hands on environmental science to school groups.
Joe enjoys spending as much time outdoors as he can, and can be found hiking, mountain biking, and camping in his spare time.
