Simon W

Simon grew up outside of Atlanta, Georgia. Growing up, Simon spent his summers as a camper and as a counselor at YMCA Camp High Harbour. Simon took every chance he had to hike and volunteer on the Appalachian Trail. Simon graduated with a BS in Recreation Management with a concentration in Outdoor Experiential Education, and a minor in Sociology from Appalachian State University in 2016. While Simon was a student, he engaged in many outdoor pursuits as well as volunteered in the community. Simon was an avid climber and mountain biker. When he was not outside or in class, Simon would spend his time at the local humane society.

In 2014, Simon completed the National Outdoor Leadership School’s Wilderness Medicine and Rescue semester. During his semester with NOLS, Simon became certified as a Wilderness EMT. He also backpacked in the Wind River Range in Wyoming, climbed throughout Wyoming, and went boating down the Green River in Utah. Simon previously worked at a summer camp for individuals with learning disabilities in Wyoming. At this camp, Simon led back-country horse packing trips, floated down the Snake River, and guided students through Yellowstone. During his time off Simon took advantage of climbing opportunities in the Grand Teton National Park. Simon transitioned to Wilderness Therapy about two years ago to find a rewarding and challenging opportunity. When he is not working, Simon can be found exploring Utah’s many canyons and playing his flute.
