Jake S

Jake grew up in northern New Jersey in the shadow of New York City. Though he loved the energy that the city offered, he would often seek the quiet and solace of the natural areas in the region. After attending college in Connecticut, he moved to Brooklyn to work for a tech startup.  A few years in the fluorescent lights and blue screens of office work took its toll as he yearned for something more fulfilling. Not yet sure what that was, he sold everything he owned and bought a one-way ticket to Australia. This led to a year of solo travel around Asia, Africa, and Europe.  Highlights included motorbiking the Ha Giang Loop in Vietnam and trekking the Anapurna Circuit in Nepal.  It was in the Himalayas that he discovered his love for the wilderness.

Returning with a new perspective, he knew that he wanted to devote himself to a career of helping others. Jake feels blessed to have found Wilderness Therapy. In his off shifts, he can be found climbing, biking, and camping his way around Utah.  Other hobbies include petting other people’s dogs and eating sandwiches.
