A Midwestern gal from the Chicagoland area, Maya has always been passionate about the outdoors and about caring for others. She spent the summer days of her childhood catching turtles and camping with her family. In college, Maya studied health sciences as well as Spanish and biology. During those undergraduate years, Maya worked as both a resident advisor and a medical scribe in a pediatric emergency room. Her time in the emergency room was a formative experience and made her wonder what it would be like to spend more time with patients trying to work on reaching the deeper root of their struggles.
Maya began to spend time running and doing yoga as a release during her college years and from her city school in St. Louis, she yearned to have a deeper connection with nature.
Maya is currently applying to physician assistant graduate school programs and spends her free time reading and traveling to wherever she is drawn to go hiking.
