Rachel Wheeler, MD

Dr. Rachel Wheeler is a distinguished Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist, certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in Adult Psychiatry, and possesses fellowship training in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. Boasting a lengthy tenure spanning decades, she has adeptly addressed an array of mental health concerns afflicting children and adolescents in diverse settings such as outpatient, residential, and wilderness environments.

Her academic journey is marked by a doctorate earned through an innovative six-year combined BA-MD medical school at the University of Missouri-Kansas City. Following the successful completion of her Adult Psychiatry residency program at Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan, she concluded an enriching two-year fellowship in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at the esteemed University of Utah and Primary Children’s Medical Center in Salt Lake City.

Originating from the Midwest, Dr. Wheeler has been a resident of Utah since 1992, where she found solace in the state’s breathtaking landscapes. An enthusiast of outdoor pursuits and adventure, she once avidly embraced cycling and snow skiing and presently enjoys hiking, walking, meditation, yoga, reading, and cherishing moments with her sweet cats. Traveling with her remarkable sons adds another dimension to her joy.

Her profound dedication to nurturing and treating the younger generation is further fueled by her unique experience as a single parent raising three boys. Dr. Wheeler deeply recognizes the pivotal importance of fostering a robust parent-child relationship. Sharing a life with her fiancé, who is also a mental health provider has enriched both her personal and professional spheres. Dr. Wheeler is genuinely honored to join the esteemed Elements team.
